Process

1. Lodge a combined application for Subclass 820 and Subclass 801. 2. Provide evidence of a genuine and ongoing relationship. 3. Receive Subclass 820 temporary visa. 4. After the required waiting period, the Department assesses eligibility for Subclass 801 permanent visa. 5. Receive permanent residency if eligible.

• Be in a genuine and ongoing relationship with an eligible sponsor • Be married or in a de facto relationship • Usually meet the 12-month de facto requirement unless exempt • Meet health and character requirements • Be in Australia at time of application

Work Rights

This visa allows you to work in Australia.

Travel Rights

Subclass 820 allows travel in and out of Australia while the visa is valid. Subclass 801 allows travel for 5 years from the date the permanent visa is granted.
